      "Were Married 50 Years"

The golden wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. August C. Hucke which took place at the Philharmonic Hall on Wednesday night was one of the most enjoyable celebrations of its kind ever held in this city. Only members of the family and several intimate friends of the couple attended the celebration.

The couple was married in Pittsburg October 28, 1858, and came west shortly after, settling in St. Louis. Later they came to Belleville and resided here until a few years ago, when they took up their home with their daughter, Mrs. Ella Steuer, in St. Louis. Mr. Hucke is in his 73rd year and his estimable helpmeet is now 70 years old. Mr. Hucke established the Hucke hardware business, from which he retired to private life twelve years ago. The happy union has four children living, three sons, Albert, William and Walter A. Hucke, here, and one daughter, Mrs. Steuer, in St. Louis; also six grandchildren.

The celebration was attended by a large number of relatives, and Dr. Adolph Hansing of East St. Louis delivered the address of congratulation.
