      Deceased Name: Vera M.Hucke

      Vera M. Hucke, 97, a lifelong Labette County resident, died at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Labette Health.
      She was born May 7, 1911, in Cherryvale to Winnie and Lula (Redburn) Allison. She grew up in the rural Cherryvale area and graduated from Cherryvale High School. Later
      she graduated from Pittsburg State University with a teaching degree.
      She taught in rural schools and later for many years at Altamont Grade School until her retirement.
      On April 30, 1939, she married Bert A. Hucke in Cherryvale.
      They farmed southwest of Parsons throughout their married life. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1997.
      She was a member of the Mound Valley United Methodist Church.
      Survivors include a son, Gary Hucke and his wife, Lou, of rural Parsons; four grandchildren, Tracy Hucke, Bryan Hucke and Monte Hucke, all of Parsons, and Robyn Ankrum
      of Olathe; and fi ve great-grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Bellairs.
      A private family service will be held on Friday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
      Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
      The Carson-Wall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
