Another Marxer: Nicholas MARXER
Nicholas MARXER was a saloon keeper who emigrated from Waldowisheim in Alsace, France in 1848. Nicholas was probably related to Lorenz because Waldowisheim is located just a few miles from Altenheim. Nicholas also invested money in Joseph MARXER's coal mining company and witnessed Lorenz MARXER's will. Nicholas was born on December 6, 1829 and he died September 20, 1906. Nicholas married Clara Wendeling on June 5, 1856 in St. Clair County, Illinois, Certificate No. 4896. Clara was born in 1838 in Bavaria and died February 27, 1881. * Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas MARXER returned from their bridal tour last Sunday. On Tuesday evening they gave a grand wedding supper, to which they invited a large number of their friends. Supper was served at five o'clock, and consisted of all the good things of the season, and prepared as only an adept in the culinary art can prepare them. After supper, social conversation and games were engaged in by the guests until a late hour, when they left, feeling sorry there are not more MARXERS to do likewise.
