Charles H. Hucke, a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Hucke of Lebanon Avenue, was very painfully and seriously injured in a fall down an elevator shaft in St. Louis on Wednesday afternoon [02 Jan].
Charles H. Hucke resides at 3858 Cleveland Avenue, and is a salesman for a plow company at 2208 North Broadway.
He was interested in conversation with two prospective purchasers, forgot to look where he was going and stepped into an elevator shaft.
He fell 25 feet to the granitoid paving of the basement. His collar-bone was fractured, one hip bone, and he may be internally injured.
Dr. Max Starkloff of 3623 Cleveland avenue, who is in attendance, regards Hucke's condition as serious.
Belleville News Democrat, 3 Jan 1907.
(According to his gravestone, he died two days after the fall).
