Armella M. Jacobi Touchette, 96, of Columbia died Sunday, March 25,
2007, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. She was born Aug. 25,
1910, in Millstadt to the late Urban A. and Anna Biver Jacobi. She
was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia,
where she was a member of the Altar Sodality. She was a member of
the Columbia Gymnastic Association and the Columbia Senior Citizens.
Survivors include two sons, George U. Touchette of Columbia and Dr. Dennis
P. Touchette of St. Louis; two daughters, Bette Jo Mergen of Waterloo
and Carol Conrad of St. Louis; two sisters, Sister Joel Jacobi (Third
Order of St. Francis) of Springfield, Ill., and Dolores Galway of Port
Clinton, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George E. Touchette Sr.,
whom she married April 19, 1933, in Belleville; a brother, Paul Jacobi;
and a sister, Irma Hausmann. A funeral Mass was celebrated March 30 at
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia with the Rev. Carl
Scherrer officiating. Burial was in Immaculate Conception Catholic
Cemetery in Columbia. Lawlor Funeral Home in Columbia handled the
arrangements. Memorials are suggested to building fund at Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church.
