  [S22] Obituary - Various. BELLEVILLE -- Cletus Loyet Biver, 91, born Aug. 22, 1919, died Sunday, June 26, 2011, at his home. Mr. Biver worked for most of his life as a farmer, raising corn, cows and 13 children on the family's second-generation farm south of Belleville. He served as chairman of Federal Land Bank. A proud member of Farm Bureau and Future Farmers of America, Mr. Biver returned from World War II in 1945 and rejoined his father on the farm, which the family continues to work. Mr. Biver pitched a mean game of softball for his team, the Eager Beavers, and hosted many a memorable barn dance. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mr. Biver enlisted in the Army Air Corps at the age of 22 and worked as a turbo mechanic. He maintained aircraft used in World War II from his station in Australia. After returning from the service in the Army Air Corps, Cletus married Catherine Van Gordon, whom he called the smartest woman he ever knew, on Jan. 9, 1946. Their 62 year marriage continues to inspire their family as an example of true commitment and faith. Shortly after Mr. Biver's passing, Monsignor William McGhee joined hands with family members to circle Cletus and recite the Memorare, a favorite prayer of Catherine's. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; a son, George Biver; his parents, Frank and Fannie Biver; a brother, Leon Biver; a sister, Bernice Schoen; a son-in-law, Mike Williams; a grandchild, Kellie Biver; and a great-grandchild, Will Parker Biver Harris. He is survived by seven daughters, Terri (Bill) Lawler of Marion; and Mary Kay Biver, Janine Williams, Eve-lyn Biver, Debi (Bud) Schneider, Angie (Keith) Sturgis and Cheryl (Mark) Brunsmann, all of Belleville; five sons, Frank (Rosi) Biver of Edwardsville, David (Irene) Biver of Freeburg, John (Anita) Biver of Pittsburg, Paul (Sandy) Biver of Belleville and Mark (Maureen) Biver of Freeburg; seven sisters, Loretta Oehler, Sister Marie Frances Biver, Rodney Buehler, Bea Haas, Joan Geolat, Alice (George) Hasenstab and Helen Biver; 36 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hospice of Southern Illinois or the charity of the donor's choice. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1706 W. Main St., in Belleville. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Shiloh.
