The 1920 US Census lists a Carl Hucke, age 31, in Carondelet, St. Louis County, with wife Maude, 24, and son George, 5. The census-taker lists Carl's birthplace as "Halperstead (Ger.)".

In 1930 Carl (41), Maude (34), and George (15), now in the city of St. Louis were joined by Carl Jr., age 5. (Likely Carl J. Hucke Jr, 1924-2006, buried Calvary).

There is no location called "Halperstead" in Germany; however there is a Halberstadt in Saxony-Anhalt, 111 km from Dingelstadt.
